This is Dad

Hi, all. Just making a quick post. Joanne's been doing a great job keeping you all updated and now she is looking over my shoulder to make sure I post something. Well, last night Ethan slept for a record 6 hours straight (a bit of a shock for me). It took a bit of time to get him to sleep first of all. In the end I had to put him in the baby carrier and walk around singing the entire Oasis back catalog to him - well, what I could remember anyway and the poor guy had to suffer through a lot of humming and muddled lyrics. It worked though. He's getting noticably stronger with every day and Joanne says he has a hairy forehead. Actually, if you look at Ethan's passport photo, you can see his hairline is somewhat like mine (poor guy). However, I am not responsible for the vertical nature of his hair - that's all Joanne (ask her to show you her baby pics when you see her). Maybe she will post one here. He's also taken to drooling a little. Hopefully he won't develop into the fully-fledged record-breaking drooler his mother was (is?). Joanne wants us to post a recording of us singing to him. I'm not sure this will happen because I don't know any nursery rhymes....honest. Well, that's it from me. Maybe I'll post sometime again soon...(if you are all lucky enough). Also, I just want to thank everybody who has been following this blog and the wonderful comments we have received (we will try to start replying to those). Of course it is impossible for everyone to see him just now and so we set up this blog to keep you up-to-date. We look forward to hearing from you. Love to you all...Adam xxx

Wow! This week has flown by!

Hey there, Let's see, what have we been up to the past week? Surprisingly all I can remember is that I went in for a check up with the obstetrician on Wednesday morning. So Monday and Tuesday are a blur. Ahh.. now I remember.... Monday was Dragon Boat Festival Long weekend. Tuesday was the actual holiday so people had to work this past Saturday inorder to make up for the Monday off. Adam tried to make up for it on Tuesday but forgot his office key and came back home to spend the rest of the day with Ethan and I so that was nice. Instead, he went into work on Thurday to make up for Monday. (Ok... that seems very confusing so if you don't understand it - it's ok.) Tuesday was Great Grandad George's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY. The family in the UK did a big birthday surprise on him much to his pleasure and Adam and I talked to him and were there in spirit! Thursday A-ma came early to pick up Ethan and let me get a few hrs sleep. Then I went over to her place and spent the afternoon with them and went back home to get dinner ready for Adam when he got home. Friday was spent applying for Adam's Alien Resident Card (Work Permit) extension of his old card and apply for a new Alien Resident through Marriage Card . This took all morning until about 1ish. We took Ethan with us and he pretty much slept through the whole thing. He actually pretends to sleep which was great because last night, Adam just carried him around in the Baby Bjorn and he ended up sleeping from 10:30pm - 3am (While I was gratefully napping.) Then he woke and nursed and napped on me about every few hrs. Today, a good friend of mine, Donna came by around 9:30 am. (She is from Australia and is going back there with her son Cailem next Wed. ) She invited another friend, Laurie Ann (Canadian) to meet up with us. Then, we went to get massaged and our hair washed at the hair salon. I took Ethan with me to give Adam a much need sleep. Afterwards, we walked around a near by outdoor shopping area called Jing Ming First Street and grabbed some lunch. When I got back home it was around 12:30pm and Adam had just gotten up. He looked really well rested. Then A-ma and Gong Gong came by and we went for Mango Sorbet on top of shaved ice. SOOOOO GOOOD. Afterwards, they took Ethan back to their place for few hrs so I could get a nap and Adam could get some work done. Now, Ethan is resting on Adam's lap as he is writing an email. He is so angelic when he is sleeping.. Ethan I mean not Adam. HAHAH. As for Ethan this past week, his life is pretty routine: Nurse, Sleep, Poop, Bath with 1-2 bottle feedings/day and outings. He has increased the amount of milk he drinks from 80cc to over 100cc which is normal for an 8 week old so all is good and his thighs are getting chubbier. Some of his baby clothes are already a bit tight on him. HEEE. I'll try to post more regularly but since Ethan and I are now free to go where we want with the Baby Bjorn, when we can go out, we jump at the chance! Luv to all, Joanne

Check out the footwear!

I couldn't wait to try on these adorable sneakers (trainers for you UK folk). There is still a litte room for him to grow but not much. So focus your eyes on Ethan and his feet rather than me and the factt hat the top of my head is not in the pic. (Thanks alot Adam!) LOL.

A Good Few Days

Hey Y'all

These past few days have been pretty uneventful. This morning's only surprise was a huge poop that almost overflowed out of his nappy. Ethan's been sleeping pretty reguarly-3hrs after a feed and drinking alot! He went from 80cc to 100cc-120cc. Must be a growth spurt.

This week, Ethan has started staying awake for longer periods. He usually is awake from 8:30am-10:30am and then has another wakeful period in the late afternoon or evening. His eyes will follow you around and he moves his arms and legs about when you talk to him. He is also smiling although he doesn't realize that he is doing it.

The Baby Bjorn has been fantastic and a huge weight off my arms. It's so easy to get Ethan into it and he just falls right asleep.

We've been out to dinner with A-ma and Gong Gong. Meals for me are quite challenging since usually Ethan wants to eat too. So, he usually nurses on my left side which means that I need to hold him with my left arm and eat with my right hand. (I'm left handed- so i'm quickly becoming ambidexterous) Friday, we had a mishap when the bacon, I was eating for breakfast, slipped off my fork and got caught between Ethan and I so both of us ended up changing our clothes. Haha.

We hope to take a family photo soon as soon as daddy sets up the tripod and will post the picture here.

As for Adam's headaches, your prayers have been working. The past few days have been alot better for him. He changed bedrooms and is sleeping in the Japanese Room and had been taking Oxygen supplement drops as well as I try to give him more hrs of sleep. So thanks!

Also, we got Ethan's Taiwanese Passport and he looks so adorable!!! (I'll post a pic soon)

As for me, Kelsey's (My Sis in law), father has consented to be a guarantor for my application for a birth certificate and so the process for my new passport, Ethan's Canadian Citizenship Card and his Passport will be starting very soon. So much thanks to the Wouter, Kels and Jeff for their help.

Oh, also this week, we recieved a big package full of clothes, lotions and baby wash, nursing cover, adorable shoes (which by the way fit him just right) and diaper rash cream from Kelsey and Jeff Lin. Ethan is so lucky to have such fantastic sister in laws. His dresser drawers are overflowing with the cutest outfits ever. So Thanks!!!!!
I need to set up a fashion show for him but he hates getting his clothes changed.

That's all for now,

Joanne
