Update

I've been pretty miserable with tonsilitis the past week and half and have to apologize as i've not been in the mood to post but today, i've decided that i must write Ethan's going ons and dev't since there is soooooooooooo much he is doing at the moment that I can't keep track as well as his talking has gone into overdrive. He is such a good communicator. Not only this but he has more confidence in himself and on Monday, we went to the Playbarn in Settle and as I will still feeling miserable, was a bit apprehensive i'd have to go into the softplay gym area with him as the 3 previous times we've been there but this time he was absolutely brilliant. He went in and straight away jumped about, ran, played all by himself and with other kids he didn' know and I just sat at a table eating and drinking juice for 4 hrs with intermittent periods of him coming to eat food and get a drink. He had so much fun running around he was sweating. I was sooooooo proud of him and relieved I could just sit there and rest. So here is an update: Ethan speak: - one, two, three which can be mistaken for "Want to read" - he wants us to read more bedti me stories - sit with mommy, sit down mommy, - pasda please (pasta please), chow mien mommy make!(Mommy cooked chow mien), no bib please, shirt off please, jacket off please, shoes off please -nigh gah den (In the night garden TV show), and its characters: Upsy Daisy, Piggle piggle (Iggle Piggle), Makka Pakka, Tomliboos - Happy birday! - owf mommy, ouf daddy- he wants to go out and play outside -slippy (as the pavement tiles outside are slippery) -There you go mommy/daddy (when he gives us something) -Thank you mommy/daddy's - mommy's plants, water mommy! (water the plants), watering can- he has his own to help me water my plants - (Object) are you "As in where are you?", if you also ask him what is it? he will say "are you?" but he means "What is it?" Adam and I have tried and tried to get him to say it but no luck so far. - Mine! No! Mine! - chocat(chocolate) - daddy, come here, daddy, hide daddy(hide from dadddy) - milk, juice and our all time favorite "meat!" he has become a carnivore , lately devoring ham, turkey, chicken, pork, beef burgers etc. I think he is making up for lost time as he was huge on carbs and starchy foods the last year or so. - He will ask for "hug mommy/daddy" which could mean he wants a hug or he want to hug us Ethan can do all by himself: - Put on his rainboots (Wellies) - Pull down his pants and nappy (which he did twice to show everyone at the supermarket) - drink from a cup without handles - draws better- longer squiggles and will say he's drawn a boat or fish (But its not recognizable..at least not to me) - mommy bath in, daddy bath in (He wants one of us to get into the bath with him) - breaks twigs on his knee like daddy showed him- very cute -take a tissue and say "snotty nose" and wipe his nose- whether it is or isn't snotty - loves jumping off his toddler bed onto the mattress and bouncing - take off his jacket, hat on (Try to put his hat on), socks off- pulls them off,

Ethan's an escape artist!

We have recently been taking turns reading to Ethan at night in his bedroom and then waiting until he falls asleep, then one of us lies down on the single mattress beside his toddler bed and goes to bed to get him used to his room. This has gone on a bit longer than we planned as Adam had quite a bad cold and then I got a cold so we both slept separately. Last night after putting Ethan to bed, we watched a dvd and then both went to bed in our room . Ethan was brilliant. He awoke cryi ng once in the night, gave him a cuddle and some milk and went back to sleep. This morning we woke to him crying at 8am. I got my blanket and pillows and prepared to join him in his room only to discover he wasn't there. He was crying at the bottom of the stairs!!! What makes this quite impressive and scary was that he sleeps in a grobag(sleeping sac) -he had woken up, managed to undo his zip on his sleeping bag, take it off and walk downstairs to find us but we obviously weren't there! Thus the crying. Maybe we should put a baby gate across his door... Joanne
