Wow! Yet again a week has flown by. Last week, we met with the nanny and organized when Ethan would start going to her house. So I've been cherishing every moment with him since I go back to work 8/30.
It is especially difficult for me since...
Ethan has developed his motor skills and vocalisation exponentially. He can grab onto his toes, hold his head up and look both ways, play with his hands, suck his thumb, smiles all the time, responds vocally to strangers who interact with him, grabs his feet with his hands and it seems just this afternoon, he realized he could make sounds like awah, geeya, ee yo, cooo, and was holding his own little conversations for a good hour or so. He is damn cute, adorable, wonderful.... need I go on.
Today, we had a big trip to Taipei to sort out his Canadian Passport and Citizenship Certificate. Unlike the British Embassy, you cannot just fax in your applications for processing. The Canadian Trade Office must see the Canadian Parent and the child in order to accept the paperwork. A-Ma, Ethan and I took the new High Speed Rail at 7 am and got to Taipei exactly in an hour. Then it took us another hour to find all the corresponding elevators and the correct Mass Rapid Transit(MRT) but we got to where we were going, got the applications done and had time to visit some relatives. Jiu Ma and Jiu Jiu (Aunt and Uncle) even gifted Ethan with a Pure Gold pendant with the characters Good Fortune and Prosperity and too teeny pure gold rings.It was very kind and generous of them. Then we headed home and were back by 3:30pm. Quite amazing really, when u think about it. Ethan took everything in stride and even chatted up the strangers he met in the elevators and on the trains.
That's it for now since aethan has fallen asleep on me and I am hoping to join him.
