I got to talk to Great Grand Dad George!

Mommy stop talking!!!! I have something really important to tell all of you!!!!! Two days ago, I got a phonecall from England. It was my great granddad! His name is George. I haven't met him yet but mommy has told me all about him and my great grand mum Mary. I've even seen pictures of them! He was really nice and while I was on the phone, I listened very closely to his words of wisdom and even shook my head no for the first time. Mommy and daddy say that he isn't feeling too well but is getting better and talking to me hopefully cheered him up. George, you are in our thoughts and prayers! We love you! Ethan, mommy and daddy.

2/28- Peace Day in Taiwan but not in the Zahler's home

Hey, its mommy.

Yesterday was Taiwan Peace Day, a national holiday for everyone. However, Peace was not the agenda of the day in the Zahler residence.

Ethan has been staying at the nanny's the last 3 evenings as well as the days so I can catch up on sleep, get over allergies and/or cold. However, yesterday, I brought him home to play with a boy from playgroup.

We went to pick up Samantha, around 10:30am (one of my bridemaids at the Taiwan wedding), She came over and played with Ethan. Around 12:30pm Ethan had a bottle and fell asleep at 1:00pm. Samantha said her goodbyes around 1:30pm and I joined Ethan for a quick rest as Rosela and her son Zer Zer (4yrs) and Pin Ju (4mths) were to arrive around 2pm.

They arrived around 2:30pm with cake and coffee in hand. After awhile, Zer Zer quickly got used to his new surroundings and enjoyed playing with Ethan and his toys. He sped Ethan along in his walker and showed Ethan how to build lego towers. Ethan was thrilled and overjoyed to have a new playmate. Pinju was happy to sit on his mommy's lap and take everything in.

Unfortunately the mommies were so busy chatting, that we forgot to take any pictures of the kids playing!!!

However one situation made itself very clear that it needed to be captured on camera.

Ethan has just started eating tiny morsels of food. However, since adults are the primary morsel givers, he often gets impatient and wants to feed himself. Last weekend, it was inhaling a rice cracker at the speed of light. Yesterday afternoon, it was cake....

Here you can see Ethan enjoying his cake. The flailing arms are an attempt to see how far cake can fly, how much he can smoosh into his pants and whatever was left, was to be stuffed in his mouth.

(I had just put the cake down on the sofa for a second!!!!)

Here is Ethan surveying his artistic cake masterpiece. Maybe we need to ask Mamazee to start doing claywork again...

As I picked him up to change his attire, Ethan emptied his belly onto the floor, as with the rice cracker. So a quick clean up and laundry time .Then thinking, he would be hungry, I gave him his bottle which he emptied onto the me, him and the mats. More laundry...

Big mistake. LOL.

Later, I was to learn from the nanny that after he eats solids, we should wait another hour before giving him formula- duly noted.

Rosela, Zer Zer and Pin Ju hurriedly departed while we were getting changed. Hopefully not because of Ethan's stomach contents... but more to do with it getting closer to dinner time.

All in all , it was a wonderful day despite the wiping, mopping and laundry. It must be said that I am most appreciative of Vanish Stain remover as it has become a staple in our house.

Love Joanne

The weather is warming up... will it last?

This past week was the Chinese Lantern Festival. This year is the year of the rat(mouse) which is also the year that mommy was born. Hahaha- mom's a rat.

Anyways, i've started babbling in one on one sessions with mom. It's pretty cool cuz I can say ba ba ba ba ba and ma ama ma ma ma. Mommy keeps saying Dada Dada Dada or Daa dee Daaa dee and I keep trying to correct her but its not working.

Saturday had fun. Ama, mommy and me went to Costco and I tried some pizza dough- yummmy but later in the afternoon mommy gave me a rice cracker and I was a little too over excited and bit my way through it in seconds, which kinda made me choke and then i threw up all my milk onto the sofa, momma's beds sheet and our clothes.

That night I didn't want to drink any formula except water. Mamazee told mommy it could be cuz i was scared- I think she is right.

Sunday morning, I was still a bit afraid and would only eat some apple and bananas rice cereal. Mom being mom got way too anxious and called Asung to ask if we could come over and see if she fed me formula if I would drink it.

I was up for it cuz I love going to Asung's but on the way we stopped of at a doctor's office and he rudely shoved this stick in my mouth. He said I didn't have a sore throat and that babies go through periods of not eating. See mom!! Nothing to worry about! Oh and I also got weighed and my height measured. I'm now 9.5kg and 74cm. Mommy thought I was longer but its only cuz I have long legs and whose fault is that??

Gong Gong called after the doctor's visit so we went to pick him up. He's great and I love leaning towards him for him to hold me. I'm pretty cautious now and will look for a few minutes before I let just anyone hold me but Gong Gong is ok.

Then we went to Asung's and just to be cheeky, I lay on the floor, with my head on the pillow and happily drank most of my formula to mom and dad's chagrin.

The weather got really nice and its was hot so we decided to take in the last day of the Lantern Festival near our place at the Shiang Shang Park on wenshin.

Here are some pics of me but we look pretty small cuz those lanterns are reallly big!!!

It was a bit sunny that day so I'm squinting alot but Gong Gong managed to get a picture of me smiling.
Then later in the afternoon had a nap with mommy.
Now, i'm eating just fine.
Last night had a funny sleep. Couldn't seem to find a comfy position at around 3am and kept rolling around and turning over so mommy put me in my Grobag and then I slept much better.
Last night, Gong Gong came over and played with me while mom talked to daddy on the phone. He even fed me apple and banana rice cereal and I just sat quietly beside him and watched TV with him for a while. Guess my attention span is getting longer.
I'm at Asung's now having fun so gotta go crawling and get into mischief.
Oh and I forgot to mention, if ya hold my hand, I can walk about 20 steps or more.
See ya! Ethan
