Great News!!! New Pediatrician! No cold for Ethan!

Well, what we thought was a cold was not. We went to see another pediatrician fora second opinion since the meds were making Ethan sleepy. Dr. Shih was great, not to mention he spoke English which put alot of our worries at rest. We showed him the meds the previous pediatrician prescribed. After he checked Ethan's chest and back and mouth, he told us that as long as Ethan has a high level energy and nurses well, there is no need for medication. He said that he didn't even have a cold! The previous pediatrician we have been to twice. Dr. Chang just made me feel uncomfortable both times. He had a very aloof demeanor and made me feel as if he didn't understand me when I tried to explain Ethan's symptoms. We had thought Ethan might have had Thrush in his mouth which was just left over breastmilk and we ended up leaving thinking he had a serious cold and medication which he didn't need. Both A-ma and Gong Gong were so worried as were Adam and I. I'm so glad we got a second opinion from a doctor who made us feel reassured and has a great "bedside manner"? So now the meds have been dumped in the garbage and Ethan is back to his active self.
Thanks Dr. Shih!!!
Oh and even more good news! Since being banished from Ethan and I's room this past Monday (because of a nasty cold) - Adam hasn't had any migraine headaches for the whole week. Guess it's all the undisturbed sleep he has been getting. It will be interesting to see if the headaches come back when Grandma and Grandpa Zee come since he'll be moving back into our room with us. Another solution is to get Ethan into his cot after Grandma and Grandpa Zee's visit and then we will get a better nights rest (or so I hear from Krysta and Kelsey's experiences). So mommy is very happy for her baby boy and hubby! YAY!!!!!!!!!!

Ethan's First Haircut

Hi there!

You will have to forgive me. The only way I could get a picture of his haircut was to prop him on my knees so it looks a bit wierd. You get the idea though. And yes its quite short and high in the back because he's sweats and his hair irritates his neck.

Ciao!

Our baby boy has a cold!

Well, unfortunately Ethan has caught a cold and is on meds to relieve his airways.
We have to pat his back for 5 min, then give him his medicine(Powder mixed with breastmilk) in a syringe.
The doctor said it is sweet but Ethan doesn't like it. Then, we wait 30 minutes before I nurse him.
The meds make him somewhat sleepy as you can see in the photo. The Doctor said it may last up to two weeks.
Our Ethan is a trooper and won't let his cold get in the way of him discovering the world around him.

Fun week.

Here is the weekly post. We've been busy since Ethan spend more time awake, I have even less time at the computer. He's been sleeping much better at night. After nursing, he'll sleep for 3-4hrs at a time which gives me a good 6hrs in total. For the past 3 days, Adam has been down with a cold and has been banished to another bedroom. So I have been solely taking care of Ethan, which has turned out to be alot easier than I thought. He's feeling much better now. In the morning when he wakes up, we chat and he gives me smiles after smiles. He plays in his bouncy chair or by himself on the bed while mommy gets dressed and gets a bite to eat. Later A-Ma comes by and we go for a drive in the car to an air conditioned malls or grocery stores. He loves to sit up in his stroller and take in his surroundings. Everywhere we go, we get lovely comments about Ethan being so handsome, having a raised nose, having a crease in his eyelids and having such fair and pinky skin. He's stays awake most of the afternoon and takes a couple of naps. While A-ma is here. i try to get laundry done or tidy up the house a bit. We've bought a few more MANLY onsies for Ethan and he got his first haircut since he's been grabbing the sides of his head while discovering his arms and hand. Then he yanks on his hair- which makes him cry. I'll post pics of the haircut soon. Basically, the sides and back have been trimmed quite short but he still got his spiky top. Ethan's also been to a dermatologist to find out what the red dry patches on his legs were. Turns out he's inherited Atopic Dermatitis from his mommy. Poor guy. So he has some weak hydrocortisone cream to put on it. It's already clearing up. He's also been to visit the nanny and we will start getting him used to bottles and formula soon since it will be difficult for me to express milk with my schedule at the high school and there isn't a refrigerator. In mid- August, i'll be keeping Ethan company while at the nanny's until 8/30 when I have to go back to work. So hopefully he will get comfy in his daytime surroundings and be ok when school starts. Gong Gong left for Canada yesterday and will be back in 7 days time and then on Friday, July 20th, Richard and Pam (Grampapa and Gramamazee) will be here! That's pretty much all we've been up to. Hope to hear from you all soon, Joanne

Ok. Let me have it!

Hi there. I know there are going to be alot of comments on this one.
Ethan has been getting so many remarks that he looks like a girl
or people just assume he is even though I dress him in very manly colors.

So... I thought we would leave the decision up to all of you.

Not to worry.

This is a one time thing and Adam is making certain that I don't do this again.

I promise I won't don't this again Ethan. Sorry baby boy but it was an opportunity I couldn't resist.
