Thursday and Friday

Ethan and I have come down with a snotty nose and a bit of cough but that didn't stop us from going out and enjoying ourselves. On Thurday, we went to Lakeland Maize Maze with Helen, Erin and a couple of other moms from Leck Playroup. The maze was near Kendal. http://www.lakelandmaze.co.uk/ Everyone had so much fun doing everything else, we didn't even try the children's maze! There were cornstalks abound for miles and miles but shortly after we paid, the kids were so taken with the soft play indoor area and soft climbing wall , they were busy for a good part of an hr. Then when we got outside, there were ride on tractors, cars, bikes and ball kicking area (Which Ethan repeatedly kept going back to and spent atleast 45minutes there).
Not only that, but we were off to see Donkeys, ponies, alpacas, hens, sheep and more. A little further, in the grassy area infront of the maize maze entrance was an outdoor play area with trampolines, climber, slide, basketball hoop and more. Ethan played and played and played.
We were too busy at this point to take photos cuz it was so much fun.
With the temps getting super hot, we decided to go around 1ish and do some grocery shopping. Ethan was fantastic and helped to put the groceries on the conveyor belt and then helped with bagging them up.
He fell asleep on the way home and didn't wake up till after 6ish but was a good sport, had a quick dinner, bath and back upstairs for story time. Friday we went to the Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival with the North Yorkshire Children's Centre. I was armed with a pile of tissues in both pockets for our noses, a rucksack with some snacks, juice, nappies, wetwipes, my wrap and Ethan bei bei - blanket. We got to go on this huge bus (coach), like Greyhound bus. Ethan has been dying for weeks to go on a bus and this did not let him down in the least! He was so excited nearly shouting "Going on a REAL bus! Big bus mommy" for a good 10 minutes after we got on. He had fun figuring out how to unfasten and fasten my seatbelt repeatedly and sat buckled up in his for the entire 1hr journey. We looked at many tractors, haybales, train tracks, fields, sheep and the lovely countryside, sang wheels on the bus and for the first time in ages, I felt car sick- nautious- ick. After arriving we got a map and a scarecrow finding sheet. I got Ethan a little scarecrow which he wouldn't let go for our entire time we were there.
We walked around finding the scarecrows and was happy I brought my new wrap (will post photos of us in it as soon as I get Adam to take a photo of us!) as Ethan was tired from his cold. Soon he was wrapped up in front of me and we were off exploring and searching for scarecrows- we found Iggle Piggle and Makka Pakka from the Night Garden, and numerous other before Ethan fell asleep. It was a bit difficult taking photos with him asleep on me so there aren't that many but we managed to find all the scarecrows and complete our worksheets. Then we went back to the bus to unload some stuff and Ethan woke up so we had lunch outside a nearby pub. Soon, the other mom's made there way back to the bus and we joined Rachel, her 3 kids, and Sally and her two boys at the playground. Ethan despite my best efforts held on tightly to his scarecrow while climbing a rope grid ladder, walking over the bridge, going down the slide and generally playing and running on and around everything. LOL. On the way back to the bus, put Ethan in a hip carry with my wrap- which was a first. It was soo comfy and quick- Ethan loved and no bulky pushchair to lug about. Some of the other moms were really interested as I had it wrapped around my shoulders to keep warm before wrappaying Ethan. Maybe, i'll convert them. MWAH HAHAHA! The bus ride back was a bit more eventful as Ethan got out of his seatbelt on more than one occasion after unfastening and fastening it. We had dinner, and bath and then both of us went to sleep early. We were exhausted! What a great two days!
